10/31/1963 Public Law 88-164 PL 88-164 validated funds for training professionals to work with children with specific needs. They also used it for research and demonstration for students.
09/26/1973 Rehablilitation Act of 1973 (PL 93-112) This acts declares that it is illegal to deny participation in activities or programs solely because of a disability. They must have equal access to programs and services.
11/29/1975 Public Law 94-142 The Education for All Handicapped Children Act. States provide free appropriate public education to all children with disabilities.
10/08/1986 Public Law 99-457 Education of the Handicapped Act Amendment. Improved services to youg special needs children and their families.
01/26/1992 Americans with Disabilities Act A civil rights law that prohibits, under certain circumstances, discrimination based on disability.
06/14/2001 Public Law 107-110: No Child Left Behind Act Impacted all children in the schools and especially on the children with disabilities. Held schools and educators responsible for bringing students to a minimum level of competency.
12/03/2004 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services to children with disabilities.
02/17/2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Large funds provided to improve the delivery of qualityof early intervention services.
