08/14/1945	Cold War Begins	Cold war begin as soon as WWII Ended. The U.S. Saw the Soviet union as a threat becasue fo communism. It was a war of Words, and remained 'cold'.
03/12/1947	Truman Doctrine	Trumans letter to U.S. to remind them of how our country is involved. It stated what the foreign policy would do to the country.
04/01/1948	Marshall Plan	The plan to help europe keep free from communism. It enabled finacial aid from the U.S.
04/04/1949	Creation of NATO	NATO was an alliance between countrys. It stated if one country was attacked, the others would come help.
06/25/1950	Korean War	A war fought between North Korea and China Vs. South Korea and U.S. It was fought to keep Korea out of Communism. Korea is still split today.
11/01/1955	Vietnam War	Fought to prevent communist in Vietnam. U.S. pulled out in 1973.
10/04/1957	Space Race	US and USSR raced to build missiles that could be used to launch missle to space. They announced it within four days of eachother.
10/04/1957	Launching of Sputnik	The Soviet union launched the first succesful satellite into space. Caught America off guard, and initiaed the space race.
03/21/1960	Arms Race	The Fight who could build the biggest weapons, and have greatest military technology. This was between U.S. and Soviet.
04/17/1961	Bay of Pigs Invasion	The U.S. exiles were going to take over governement. The operation failed, and they were executed.
10/15/1962	Cuban Missile Crisis	Russia tried to put missles in Cuba. U.S. threated invasion of Cuba, becasue of how close Cuba is Florida. Closest U.S. came to a nuclear war.
11/20/1991	End of Cold War	The Cold war ceased.
