06/28/1914	Assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand	Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo, Bosnia by Gavrilo Princip, a 23-year-old Serbian nationalist.
07/04/1914	Germany invades Belgium	Germany invades Belgium, which is neutral in this war, as part of their 'Schlieffen Plan'. Britain honouring their promise to Belgium, declares war on Germany to defend Belgium.
07/23/1914	Austria-Hungary threatens war against Serbia	Austria-Hungary threatens war against Serbia unless Serbia complies with a list of demands wtihin the next 24 hours.

12/16/1917	Germany signs Armistice with Russia	An Armistice is signed between Russia and Germany.
12/20/1917	Britain sought a Sixth Division for Australia	Britain sought a Sixth Division for Australia, Australia had to provide 7000 men per month to meet this request. Volunteer recruitment continued to lag over this time and Prime Minister Hughes asked for another referendum on Conscription. This was defeated with 1,015,159 in favour and 1,181,747 against. This closed the issue on Conscription for the rest of World War I.
