04/21/1938	House Un-American Activities Committee formed	I only know when it started by the yaer. It was use to investigate alleged disloyalty and subversive activities on the part of private citizens, public employees, and those organizations suspected of having Communist ties.
01/01/1942	United Nations formation	The United States and 26 other nations came together to defeat the axis powers.
02/04/1945	Yalta Conference	Yalta Conference, meeting (Feb. 4–11, 1945), Yalta, Crimea, USSR, of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin. Met in secret to discuss military and political issues.
08/02/1945	Potsdam Conference	This controlled Germanys production of arms, ships, and aircraft.
03/12/1947	Truman Doctrine	He said that is was important that Greece survive as a "free" country. He has to convinve the American public to buy in to his plan, because most of the public were against his plan.
06/05/1947	Marshall Plan	In a time of hunger and a economic problem, George Marshall proposed a bill that would rebuild the nation.
06/15/1948	Berlin Airlift	The Soviot Union tried to take over Berlin and blockaded the city so it woulf starve. The US along with other countries sent in daily shipments of food and supplies on airplanes.
04/03/1949	NATO formation	I am not sure when it started besides the year 1949.The United States and 11 other countries banded together to form the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato). To stop possible communist expansion.
06/16/1950	North Korean Invasion of South Korea	I am not sure when it strated beside June 1950 it ended in July 1953. North Korea invaded South Korea. The United Nations had to take action.
06/16/1950	Era of McCarthyism begins	It lasted through out the 1950's. It is a time when public officials and private citizens were accused of being communists or communist sympathizers.
07/27/1953	Armistice Signed Ending Korean War	Talks had gone on for nearly 2 years about ending the war but nothing ever was done about it. Until President Eisenhower said if he was reelected he would end the war,He did just that.
10/04/1957	Sputnik 1 Launched	The worlds first satalite about the size of a beach ball was put in space.
04/12/1961	First Man in Space	A Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had a 108 minute orbit in space, which was successful and he became the fist man/ human in space.
05/05/1961	First American in Space	He went on a 15 minute sub-orbital flight which made him the 1st American in space.
08/13/1961	Creation of the Berlin Wall	It lasted from the posted date to November 9th 1989.
07/16/1969	First Man on the Moon	Neil Armstrong became the first person ever to be on the moon.
04/21/1985	Rosenberg Execution	I only know it started in April of 1985. the general secretaries of the communist and workers' parties of the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Hungary, Poland, and Romania gathered in Warsaw to sign a protocol extending the effective term of the 1955 Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance, which originally established the Soviet-led political-military alliance in Eastern Europe.
