01/04/1585	First English Expeddition to Ronoke	John White traveled to Roanke,an island off of North Carolina. Later,he became governer of Roanoke and broght more settlers.
05/03/1585	The Defeat of the Spanish Armada	When the English defeated the fleet of the Spanish ships.
11/15/1585	The Virgina Colony Began	Queen Elizabeth gave Sir Walter Raleigh permission to sponsor the colony at Roanoke. He named England's first colony Virginia.
03/16/1607	John Smith and others Established Jamestown	The Virginia Company of London finanaced an expedition to Chesapeake Bay. They named the first permanent English settlement Jamestown.
10/12/1608	Only 35 Colonist are Alive in Jamestown	There were many hardships in Jamestown. The land was swampy,the water made people sick,and there wasnt much food.
11/01/1608	The Starving Time	Native Americans stopped helping the colonist get food. The colonist ate rats,mice, and snkaes.(Many believe there was cannibalism during this time)
03/17/1612	Jhon Rolfe Developed Tobacco	The success of tobacco growing changed jamestown in many ways.
03/17/1619	The First Africans Came to Jamestown	The population jumped from abut 600 in 1619 to 200 in 1621.
07/24/1619	The House of Burgesses was Created	The House of Burgesses became the first representative assembly in the American colonies.
08/04/1676	Bacon's Rebellion	Bacon marched into Jamestown,took control of tht House of Burgesses, and burned jamestown to the ground.
