  • Executive Order 1335 forms the ONC

    Executive Order 1335 forms the ONC
    George W.Bush signs Execitvie Order 1335 which enabled the formation of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The goal of ONC is to set National standards for EHR acrossed America's Healthcare delivery system. ONC will have high Financial on the country's healthcare system. Later Legislation and regulations provides hospital reimburstment for the implementaion of approved EHR'S. ONC has helped nurses provided Safe effective quality care.
  • DHHS forms EHR collaborative.

    DHHS forms EHR collaborative. announced the formation of the EHR collaborative. This group of founding stakeholder organizations was charged with the task of facilitating rapid input from the healthcare community to support the adoption of standards for the HER. Member organizations included American Health Information Management Association, American Medical Association, American Medical Informatics Association, American Nurses Association, College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME)
  • AHIC Chartered as a Federal Advisory Body American Health Information Community (AHIC) was chartered as a federal advisory body to make recommendations to the secretary of the DHHS on how to accelerate the development and adoption of health information technology. AHIC concluded operations in 2008.
  • HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model Analytics EMR Adoption Model was developed and was recently revised to show how individual hospitals and integrated healthcare systems in the U.S. and Canada fared in their levels of EMR capabilities. The data from the HIMSS Analytics U.S. Adoption Model indicated that 14% of of the more than 5,000 organizations that participated in the survey had progressed to stage 4.
  • National Alliance of Health Information Technology defined the electronic health record (EHR) Alliance of Health Information Technology defined the electronic health record (EHR) to eliminate the confusion of the terms EHR and EMR (electronic medical record). The Alliance noted that the primary distinction between the EMR and HER was the ability to exchange information outside of a single healthcare delivery system.

    The office of the National Coordinator (ONC) was mandated legislatively in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health ACT. During the intervening years work continued to develop a functional model and agreed-on-standards because the her requires both technical and clinical standards. the adoption of nationally agreed-on standers for the ehr will impact all sectors of the healthcare community including hospitals, physicians, payers, researchers, and pharmacies.
  • The Recovery and Reinvestment Act

    The Recovery and Reinvestment Act Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 mandated the implementation of “meaningful use benchmarks”. The benchmarks require healthcare providers to report certain data. Compliance with the mandated reporting requirements depends upon the adoption and use.The Recovery Act will allocate 19.2 billion dollars to Health Infromation Technology. This act enables nurses more resources to use currect update technologoy.
