12/30/1773 | tea act | when the british charged taxes on tea and later on they made it legal to only buy one type of tea |

10/28/1774 | first continental congress | The Continental Congress was called in the American colonies in response to the Intolerable Acts enacted by Parliament. Among other things, the act closed the port of Boston. 12 of the 13 colonies sent representatives to Philadelphia which met on 5 September 1774. |
