10/04/1954	Sputink1	• 4 Oct. 1954- Sputink 1 launch by the Sovient Union began the space war. It travels at 18,000 mi per hour.
01/31/1958	Explorer 1	NASA was formed by the Untied States during the space race. It was the first of the 90 Explorer spacecraft series.
07/29/1958	NASA	NASA was formed by the Untied States during the space race. It was the first of the 90 Explorer spacecraft series.
08/16/1960	Satellite	The first satellite into space launch by the Untied States. Coming of a moving spacecraft in orbit and then reattaching in mid-air.
04/12/1961	1st Russian	First Russian in space, his name was Yuri Gagarin. He was sent by the Russians on the Vostok 1 space craft
05/05/1961	1st American	First American in space, his name was Alan Shepard. He was on board a tiny mercury capsule by the name of Freedom 7.
06/16/1963	1st Russian Woman	First Russian woman in space, her name was Valentina Tereshkova. She was sent by the Soviets on the Vostok 6 spacecraft.
03/18/1965	1st Space Walk	First Space Walk was by Alexey Leonov first man in actual space. He was outside the spacecraft for 12 minutes and 9 seconds.
06/03/1965	1st American to Complete a Space walk	Ed White was the first American to complete a space walk. He was sent on the mission Gemini 4.
04/03/1966	Luna 10	Luna 10 was the first spacecraft to orbit the moon. It finished its first orbit in 3 hours.
04/23/1967	Soyuz 1	Soyuz 1 was a manned spacecraft holding Vladimir Komarov. On its return back to Earth, it had technical problems caused a crash and the death of Vladimir.
12/21/1968	Apollo 8	Apollo 8 was the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon. It was a three man crew containing Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders.
07/06/1969	Apollo 11	Apollo 11 was the first flight that took men to the moon and was a project of the United States. US had reached the moon before the Soviets.
12/19/1972	Apollo 17	Apollo 17 was the last or most recent moon landing by the United States. The crew consisted of Eugene Cernan, Ronald Evans, and Harrison Schmitt.
