The Trail of Tears was a forced removal of the Cherokee Indians from Georgia. In 1830, Congress passed the "Indian Removal Act". The Cherokee Indans were forced to march thousands of miles and many died along the way.

The March began in Northern Indiana in 1838. Potawatami tribe in Northern Indiana was forced to move West because of the Americans Westward expansion. They traveled to Eastern Kansas.
