In 1903 the first box of crayons debuted by two cousins. The box only contained the basic eight colors.
Timeline Inception of the Frod Motor Company (3) Henry Ford began the Ford Motor Company after a disagreement with the detroit company that he was already working for. He adapted the assembly line method to the production of cars which enabled the production to go faster. Ford was known for paying well at his company.
Mary bethune Mary McLeod Bethune (4) Mary McLeod Bethune started the first school for African American girls in 1904 in Daytona, Florida. Later another school for boys was formed and then the Bethune-Cookman College in 1923.
Timeline New York City Subway Opens (2) New York Subway The subway began in 1904 with the Mayor being the first to control the transit. That afternoon 100.000 people paid $. 05 to take a ride on the subway. Still going today more than 4.5 million people take the subway everyday for work or to just get around the city.
Timeline Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (4) The foundation was founded in 1906 to advance research in the teaching field. The foundation also helps fund aid to higher education through the formation of the Pell Grant.
Timeline Henry Ford introduced the Model T car (3) car In 1908 Henry Ford introduced the first Model T car. The cost of the car was 825.00. He was credited for making the first affordable car.
Timeline NAACP Formed (5) NAACP Is formed. This goes along with the progressive movement at this time.
Kettering Charles Kettering (3) Charles Ketterling invented the first automobile electrical ingniton system. Kettering was an engineer and he worked for GM. The fisrt ingintion was installed on a cadillac. THis device being installed eliminated the need for hand cranking.

Thorndike Edward Thorndike (4) Edward Thorndike did experiments on animals. He fromulated the theory of Law of Effect. He also believed that learning took place with a stimulous and response method.

Timeline Comercial Broadcast Radio (3) Commercial Broadcasting After many years of tinkering with parts a plug in and go radio was invented. As as result companies took the advantage of commericial adveritsing. A new era began with the radio and broadcasting.
Timeline Gestalt Theory (4) Gesalt Theory believes that you have to think of the whole and its parts to get meanning. Max Wertheimer was a big proponent of the Gesalt Theory.

Timeline Black Box Flight Recorder (2) Black box David Warren was a researcher of aeronauticcs in Australia who believed that pilots' conversations should be recorded and protected. He thought of this as away to investigate why planes crash. The first balck box went into production in1957.

Timeline B. F. Skinner Opernant Conditioning (3) B.F. Skinner did research on mice and thoer reactions to certain stimuli. He believed that children could learn in the same way. When children are being taught a skill if they are rewarded with a correct reponse thay are more willing to remember the skil and learn more.
Timeline Disney Opens (5) Disney opened in 1955. The admission at that time was $1.00. Walt Disney had a vision that the place would be a happy place for all to come.
Timeline Rosa Parks (5) Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white passanger. This is believed to have sparked the civil right movemnet.
Timeline Benjamin Bloom (3) Bloom's Taxonomy was created as a way for educators to formulate their questionong of students. Bloom believed that there is a level of questioning and asking questions in the higher order requires more than just a quick response. THe taxonomy table is still used today by many educators as a means to formulate test questions.
Internet23 Microchip (2) Microchip The microchip was inventend by two different men Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce. Both men were working on thier inventions at the same time unaware of each other's inventions.

Timeline Jerome Bruner (4) Bruner did not believe the same way as the behaviorist before him. Bruner felt that a peron stores the information when it is presented to them according to where it fits in thier mind.

Barcode upc UPC Bar Code (3) UPC Code The UPC barcode was tweaked and became a usable barcode in the US in 1973. Prior to 1973 the products still had a code but the actual UPC code was invented in 1973 by George J. Laurer .

Agricultural Wave Agricultural Age:
During this time the people planted crops and consumed what they grew.They were both the consumer and the producer.
Education: The education during the first wave was based solely on individualized education or home schoolong.There was not a large need for education.
Technology: The technology from this wave was based on the need.Some of the invetions included widgets, pulleys, and and levers.
Families: The families lived together on the land they tended.

Second Wave: Industrial Age The industrial age brought about the rise of factories and mass peoduction.
Education: During this time children started going to school. They were grouped by ages and the use of television and videos were incorprated into the education.
Technology: Some of the technology of this wave included the telephone, transportation, newspapers and movies.
Families: Nuclear families working fathers, stay at home mothers.

Third Wave: Information Wave The information wave brought about the use of computers on a daily basis.
Education: Computer labs in schools, the use of the internet, and distance education.
Families: Two parent working families, single parent families, and grandparents raising children.

Technology: Computers, cell phones, internet.

Fourth Wave: Communication Wave I believe that we are already in the first or what may even be the last stages of the fourth wave. I believe that the use of the internet has given us a vast array to communicate locally and globally. We use cell phones to send messages right away. Companies can get feedback on products immediately and improve their products. I do believe like Dr. Thornburg that communication is the fourth wave and that we are in it currently.
