01/01/1587	New Colony	English settlers tried to form a new colony on Roanoke Island under Governor John White.
01/01/1590	Lost Colony	The colony disappeared. No one knows what happened to the settlers.
01/01/1607	Success at Last	The English finally settled its first successful, permanent colony.
