01/01/1500 | The British arrive. | English settlers attempt to set up permanent colonies in North America. This happened in the late 1500s. |

01/01/1585 | Roanoke Island colony | Sir Walter Raleigh organized one of the first attempts to make a colony. THe first colony was located on Roanoke Island off the coast of present-day North Carolina. |

01/01/1590 | Roanoke Island colony disappears | After John White comes back from getting supplies in England, he finds the Roanoke Island colony abbandoned. No one has ever found out what happened. All that was left is a tree carving. |

01/01/1607 | Jamestown colony | England had settled its first permanent colony at Jamestown, Virginia. |

01/01/1740 | The British Traders move to trade | The British moved west in order to trade with the American Indians in the Indiana area. |
|
01/01/1747 | Trade with the British | Cheif La Demoiselle of the Piankashaw Indians set up a new village Pickawillany, in order to be closer to the British traders. Other Miami Indians soon followed. Soon the American Indians at Pickawillany signed a treaty with the British. |

01/01/1754 | The start of the French and Indian War | The French and the British along with Indians on both sides went to war over control of the land and fur trade. |

01/01/1757 | France is losing | France was starting to lose control over the war and started running out of supplies. |
|
01/01/1763 | The war is over and the Peace of Paris | France lost the French and Indian War to the British. The Peace of Paris was signed by both sides causing most of the French territory to the British. |
|
01/01/1763 | Pontiac's War | Pontiac led a rebellion agaisnt the British were the Indians captured multiple British forts. Pontiac lost to the British in what became Pontiac's War. |
