01/01/1827	Career	Poe entered the army and was later promoted to Sergeant Major.
01/01/1831	Poetry	Poe's first poetry was published in New York City.
01/01/1836	Marriage	Poe married his cousin, Virginia, in 1836.
01/01/1839	"The Fall of the House of Usher"	Another one of Poe's famous novels was first published in 1839. Along with this story "The Tall Tale Heart" was a huge success.
01/01/1839	Short Story	Poe's first short stories "Tales of the Grotesque" and "Arabesque" published.
01/01/1843	New Story	"The Gold Bug" was published and was a huge success.
01/01/1845	"The Raven"	Poe's famous novel was published in 1845 and has won many awards.
01/01/1845	Editor	Poe became the editor of The Broadway Journal, but left after a couple of months.
01/30/1847	Wife died	Poe's wife, Virginia died in 1847 of gradual decrease in health due to Turbolculosis. They did not have any children together.
10/07/1849	Edgar Allan Poe Died	Poe died in Baltimore at the age of forty. His cause of death was undetermined and he was buried in the Westminster Cemetery.
